LAWMA apprehends security officer for illegal disposal of waste

A security officer, identified as Andy, employed by Slot Phones and Accessories at No.39 Sasha Road, Akowonjo, Egbeda, has been caught illegally dumping refuse along the road median on Akowonjo Road.
Upon investigation at the company’s premises, it was revealed that there is a waste storage facility in place. However, the facility manager was unable to provide a valid reason for the improper disposal of waste at the road median.
The manager claimed that the company is registered with a designated Private Sector Participant (PSP) for waste collection but could not present any proof of payment to the PSP operator.
The suspect, Andy, is now facing prosecution by the Lagos Waste Management Authority in accordance with the relevant laws under the Lagos State Government.
This was made known in a statement by the Lagos Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Sunday.
It reads, “Recently, an individual identified as Andy, a security personnel employed by Slot Phones and Accessories at No.39 Sasha Road, Akowonjo, Egbeda, was observed illegally dumping refuse at the road median along Akowonjo Road.
“Investigations at the business premises confirmed the presence of a waste storage facility; however, no valid justification was provided for the improper disposal of waste at the road median. The facility manager claimed that the company is registered with a designated Private Sector Participant (PSP) for waste collection. However, they were unable to present evidence of payment to the PSP operator.
“The suspect is being prosecuted by the #Lawma_gov in accordance with the law relevant laws of #followlasg.”
