The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has announced plans to commence a targeted compliance operation tagged “Show Your PSP Payment Receipt” within the Apapa-Iganmu communities.

MD/CEO LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, who spoke during a monitoring exercise in the Lagos-Badagry transit corridor on Saturday, said that the initiative was designed to tackle the root causes of indiscriminate waste disposal by verifying property-level compliance with Private Sector Participant (PSP) waste collection payment obligations.

According to the LAWMA Boss, the operation would involve routine checks requiring residents, commercial premises, and business operators to present evidence of registration and payment to their assigned PSP operators.

A statement from the Director Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi said he stated that the exercise would help identify properties without valid PSP arrangements and close service gaps that contribute to illegal dumping and blackspot formation.

He emphasised that environmental compliance was a shared responsibility, noting that consistent waste collection depended on both resident participation and operator accountability.

He urged residents and businesses in Apapa-Iganmu to regularise their PSP payments and maintain proper waste storage practices ahead of the commencement of the enforcement exercise.
