Liverpool has confirmed two major signings ahead of the new season, breaking the British transfer record with the acquisition of Sweden international striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a staggering £125 million.
The 25-year-old forward is set to undergo a medical on Monday before putting pen to paper on a six-year contract at Anfield.
This record-breaking fee surpasses the previous British transfer high of £115 million paid by Chelsea for Moisés Caicedo in 2023, cementing Isak as the most expensive signing in British football history.
The high-profile transfer ends weeks of speculation and tension, following Isak’s public frustration with Newcastle over unfulfilled promises.
In addition, Liverpool have secured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi for a fee exceeding £35 million, which includes a 10% sell-on clause.
Guehi had agreed personal terms with Liverpool a month ago, and the deal has now been finalised, bolstering Liverpool’s defensive options ahead of the campaign.
