Lookman addresses Nigerians in Yoruba after winning CAF Footballer of the Year

Super Eagles and Atlanta forward, Ademola Lookman, has been crowned the 2024 Confederation of African Football Footballer of the Year at the prestigious awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco, Dailyeconomy reports.
However, Lookman in a heartfelt moment, addressed Nigerians in his native language, Yoruba, while receiving the award.
In a now trending video, Lookman said in Yoruba, “Eka le, Nigerians, mo ki gbogbo yi o, eshe, modupe.
In English, it means, “Good evening Nigerians. I greet everyone of you. Thank you. I appreciate.”
Lookman’s journey to this historic win has been marked by stellar performances, particularly since joining Serie A club Atalanta on August 4, 2022.
He made an immediate impact, scoring on his debut in a 2–0 victory over Sampdoria. His form peaked in January 2023, when he netted braces in three consecutive matches: an 8–2 Serie A triumph over Salernitana, a 5–2 Coppa Italia victory against Spezia, and a thrilling 3–3 league draw with Juventus.
His consistent brilliance on the pitch has solidified his place among Nigeria’s football greats, adding his name to the illustrious list of Nigerian players to have won the CAF Footballer of the Year award.
