Maiduguri flood: Zulum receives N3bn from FG, donates N10,000 each to victims

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum visited the Bakassi Camp to distribute relief materials to households affected by the flood that swung major parts of Maiduguri, the State capital of Borno.

The flood that occurred on Monday, September 9, has submerged homes and displaced thousands caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam, have been described as the worst in over three decades, impacting around 70% of the city.‬

Zulum in a video shared by Channels TV on Thursday acknowledged that he had received N3 billion from the Federal Government from which he donated N10,000 to every head of household affected by the flood.

Zulum said, “We have mobilised cooks and they have started cooking food in these camps. These are immediate palliative measures that will cushion the immediate effect.

“We are here to distribute N10,000 to every head of household affected by the flood.

“A few days ago, we received N3 billion from the federal government a flood intervention fund. So we are using these funds to support the communities impacted by the flood.”

Dailyeconomy recently reported that Zulum has pledged immediate relief support for victims of the devastating Maiduguri flood, stating that he was disturbed by the calamity.
