Man killed by police dropped out in 2019 – Kwara varsity

The Management of Kwara State University, Malete, has reacted to media reports on the student, Suleiman Olayinka, killed by the police last Tuesday in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State.
A statement on Tuesday, by the varsity Acting Director, of Public Relations, Dr Saeedat Aliyu, stated that the slain individual has withdrawn from the varsity since the 2018/2019 session when he was in the 200 level.
She wrote, “Records in the University show that Aiyeyemi Sulaimon Olayinka had voluntarily withdrawn from the department of Statistics of the institution since the 2018/2019 session when he was at 200 level.
“The Management of Kwara State University strongly sympathizes with the family of the deceased and pray that God gives the family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
The late lad was allegedly being investigated for breach of trust and cheating.
However, Kwara police spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, confirmed the death of the young man stating that an investigation into the matter was ongoing.
The three Police officers involved in the incident have been arrested and detained, as reported by Dailyeconomy on Sunday.
