Manchester United have reached an agreement in principle with RB Leipzig to sign 22-year-old Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko for a deal worth €76.5 million plus €8.5 million in add-ons, totaling €85 million.

The highly-rated forward has been given permission to fly to Manchester and undergo a medical ahead of finalising the transfer. Sesko’s preference to join Manchester United has played a crucial role in the deal, despite strong competition from Newcastle United, who had also submitted higher bids.

The Slovenian international impressed last season with Leipzig, scoring 21 goals in all competitions and demonstrating his potential as one of Europe’s top young strikers. United’s pursuit of Sesko reflects their urgency in rebuilding a toothless attack following a difficult 2024-25 season.

The club has already added forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo and views Sesko as a pivotal signing under new manager Ruben Amorim.

RB Leipzig confirmed Sesko would not feature in recent friendly matches amid concrete transfer interest.

Manchester United have agreed personal terms with Sesko, with a five-year contract reportedly in place.

Financially, the club is managing payments strategically to accommodate significant transfer investments this summer.

Sesko’s arrival may prompt the departure of struggling striker Rasmus Hojlund, while Newcastle face challenges retaining Alexander Isak.

With medical checks pending and contractual formalities underway, the transfer edges close to completion, signaling a major boost for Manchester United’s attacking options next season.
