Manchester United have made a serious and concrete move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško by submitting an official bid reportedly worth €85 million plus add-ons, following Newcastle United’s improved €90 million package over the weekend.
Sources close to Manchester United confirm the club’s confidence in Šeško’s interest in joining and their readiness to proceed with negotiations as they await the Slovenian striker’s formal decision between the two Premier League suitors.
Šeško, 22, has been a coveted target this summer after an impressive stint at Leipzig, scoring 27 Bundesliga goals in two seasons and tallying 39 goals in 87 games overall.
Newcastle’s offer stands at €80 million guaranteed plus €10 million in add-ons, while Manchester United’s bid is competitive and signals strong intent.
The player has reportedly not trained with Leipzig recently and is expected to announce his preference soon.
The arrival of Šeško could significantly impact the future of Manchester United’s current striker Rasmus Højlund, who has had limited goals and is reportedly a loan target of Leipzig.
Both clubs are pressing for a decision, with Leipzig inclined to accept Newcastle’s bid but also open to United’s approach.
However, the transfer saga remains open, with the final outcome dependent on Šeško’s choice and potential bidding dynamics between the clubs.
