Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund has firmly stated his intention to remain at the club and compete for his place despite ongoing reports that United are seeking to sign another striker.

Speaking after a recent match, Hojlund said, “My intentions are very clear. I aim to remain and compete for my place, regardless of what happens”.

The 22-year-old Danish striker acknowledged the benefits of competition, adding, “Competition is fine with me, it sharpens me. I’m more than ready. I’m feeling sharp, so I’m welcoming everything that comes. It’s good with competition”.

Hojlund has described previous seasons as challenging due to the lack of support in attack but said he has grown significantly as a player and is prepared for upcoming challenges at Manchester United.

Despite Manchester United’s pursuit of forward reinforcements, including interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Chelsea forwards, Hojlund remains undeterred and committed to proving himself as a key player.

Manager Ruben Amorim has not ruled out Hojlund as his preferred striker, indicating faith in the young forward’s ability to lead the attack.

Hojlund joined United in 2023 for a £64 million fee and has faced pressure as the main striker at a young age.

He highlighted that he is still developing and learning, emphasising, “I’m only 22. Not every striker scores 100 goals by that age.

Yet, I have learned a great deal, and that is evident in my game”.

With the new Premier League season approaching, the striker’s performance in pre-season matches and his attitude toward competition could influence United’s transfer decisions.
