Noussair Mazraoui, Manchester United’s Moroccan defender, has opened up about mastering the balance between elite football and Ramadan fasting, crediting years of experience for his success.
“I think it’s a matter of experience. I’ve been doing it for a long time, since I was very young. You learn how to eat in a way that keeps you at the top of your game throughout the day. It’s really important to build up your energy when you can eat so you can perform while fasting,” Mazraoui said.
The 28-year-old, who joined United from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024 for £12.5 million, emphasised strategic eating during pre-dawn suhoor and post-sunset iftar meals to maintain peak performance in training and matches.
His advice resonates within a United squad featuring several Muslim players, including winger Amad Diallo, all navigating the holy month’s demands.
