Meranda holds prayer session as she moves to Lagos Speaker’s office

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has officially moved into the Speaker’s office at the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex on Monday.

Supporters were seen praising God and praying for her as she assumed office, in a viral video on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Complex has heightened security ahead of the plenary session scheduled for Monday.

The plenary follows speculations of a potential showdown in the House, as the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, had claimed on Saturday that he remains the Speaker of the House.

Obasa was replaced by Meranda after being removed by the majority of House members on January 13, 2025, following allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriation.

Meanwhile, today’s plenary is the third session presided over by Meranda since Obasa’s removal, with the former Speaker absent from the previous two sittings.
