The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has joined the global community to mark the International Day of Peace, themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World.”
NAF in a statement on Sunday, on X, noted that its mandate goes beyond safeguarding the nation’s airspace to include deterring aggression and fostering stability.
The statement notes, “Today, we join the global community in commemorating the International Day of Peace under the theme ‘Act Now for a Peaceful World.’ For the Nigerian Air Force, peace goes beyond the absence of conflict; it is about promoting harmony, cooperation, and compassion. While our primary duty is to safeguard the nation’s airspace and ensure operational readiness, our role also extends to deterring aggression, fostering stability, and supporting humanitarian operations during crises and natural disasters. Through international collaborations, joint exercises, and partnerships, we continue to build trust, deepen cooperation, and contribute to global peace and security.
“Beyond our operations, the NAF actively nurtures a culture of peace by empowering communities, engaging in dialogue, and strengthening civil-military relations that prioritise respect, protection of civilians, and shared prosperity. On this special day, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and understanding, because a safer, more harmonious world is possible when we act together.”
