The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has attacked armed bandits operating along the Kebbi-Zamfara axis, successfully neutralising scores of criminals in a precision airstrike conducted on July 9, under the ongoing Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Acting on credible real-time intelligence, NAF aircraft thwarted and struck a large convoy of nearly 150 motorcycles, believed to be transporting armed bandits, near Yarbuga in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A statement shared on NAF’s X (formerly Twitter) handle, on Friday, stressed that the aerial assault was executed with devastating accuracy, disrupting the bandits’ movement and forcing survivors to flee into disarray.
The statement notes, “In a major offensive under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on 9 July 2025 conducted a series of precision airstrikes that neutralised scores of armed bandits along the Kebbi-Zamfara axis, targeting a migrating convoy of nearly 150 motorcycles near Yarbuga in Maru LGA, Zamfara State. Acting on real-time intelligence, NAF aircraft struck with devastating accuracy, disrupting the bandits’ movement and forcing survivors to flee, as persistent air overwatch enabled follow-up strikes.
“A subsequent ground exploit mission on 10 July 2025 confirmed the success, with several terrorist corpses, burnt motorcycles, and weapons recovered. This joint air-ground operation dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements in the region, reaffirming the NAF’s commitment to protecting civilians, supporting ground troops, and denying criminal groups freedom of action.”
