NAFDAC uncovers expired drugs warehouse in Abia

Operatives of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration Control have uncovered two warehouses stocked with expired drugs in Aba, Abia State.
The agency has been on an operation to eradicate the selling of adulterated and expired medications to innocent Nigerians.
This comes after the agency disclosed on Friday, that its uncovered a massive expired drugs depot dealing in expired and falsified drugs at Umumeje village, Osisioma Ngwa, area of Abia State.
However, NAFDAC in a recent statement, claimed that during the raid at Mbakwe road, Aba, they discovered that some suspects had removed and relabeled some cartons of expired drugs before being uncovered.
The agency has however recovered some medications which would be taken to the Lab for analysis.
The statement reads, “Two warehouses at No. 269, Sam Mbakwe Road(formerly Faulk’s Road), Aba, stocked with expired drugs, have been uncovered.
“During the raid, it was discovered that suspects had removed some cartons of expired but relabelled drugs before security reinforcements arrived.
“From the warehouse at Umumeje, Umuocheala, Osisioma LGA, 140 tonnes of expired drugs were evacuated—excluding products seized from drug shops at Ariaria International Market.
“A total of 178 drug samples collected during the operation will undergo laboratory analysis.”
