The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) has published complaints against insurance companies on its website.

According to the publication obtained by Dailyeconomy from the website, NAICOM  published the names of insurance companies involved, date of complaints, insurer/beneficiaries, policy type and number, as well as claims amount.

Dailyeconomy noted about 46 insurance companies were mentioned in the publication. While some have as low as two complaints to their names, some have above 300 complaints attached to their names.

In November, NAICOM had urged the insurance companies to ensure they cleared all their outstanding claims before the end of the year.

The Commissioner for Insurance, NAICOM, Mr. Segun Omosehin, spoke during the 2024 Insurance Directors Conference with the theme, ‘Board performance in the Nigerian insurance industry: A GRC approach’, in Lagos.

He noted that the Commission’s primary focus was on ensuring timely payment of genuine claims, and expected all insurers to significantly reduce their outstanding claims by the end of the year, because unnecessary delays in the settlement of genuine claims would no longer be tolerated.
