President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to boost investments in police training, intelligence, and modern systems during the National Police Day celebration in Abuja on Tuesday, aiming to transform the Nigeria Police Force into a world-class institution.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu emphasised the need for a secure environment, stating, “No nation can make meaningful progress without a secure social environment.”

He pledged sustained support, saying, “We will continue to support these reforms through sustained investment in training and capacity development, modern equipment and technology. We are determined to build a Police Force that is well equipped, well trained, and well-motivated.”

The President honoured fallen officers, noting, “Their sacrifice is written into the conscience of our country,” and urged serving police to uphold professionalism: “The uniform you wear is not a licence for arbitrariness; it is a covenant of service.”

Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu reaffirmed the force’s commitment to discipline and professionalism, noting the day’s observance reflects public expectations.

The event featured parades, tactical displays, and tributes from banks and dignitaries, including former IGPs and service chiefs.
