The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has expressed readiness to collaborate with the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) to develop a clear regulatory framework addressing overlapping roles between the two agencies.
In a statement on Tuesday, NCAA said, “The Director General of Civil Aviation, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, has announced the agency’s willingness to work with the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) to develop a regulatory framework that addresses overlapping roles between the two organizations.”
The commitment followed a courtesy visit by a NIHOTOUR delegation led by Director General Aare (Dr.) Fagade Abisoye to Capt. Najomo’s office in Abuja.
Najomo “warmly received the delegation and pledged a smooth partnership, proposing the formation of a committee to review the Acts and regulations governing both agencies.”
The initiative aims “to clarify and streamline their respective roles to avoid conflicts,” ensuring better coordination in regulating the aviation and tourism sectors.
Speaking on behalf of NIHOTOUR, Dr Abisoye underscored the significance of the collaboration, stating, “This collaboration is crucial in strengthening the regulatory framework for the tourism sector.”
He also expressed hope for “formalizing their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to prevent role encroachment.”
To realize this goal, both parties have agreed to set up a committee tasked with reviewing the overlapping mandates.
The committee will deliver its findings within three months to guide future cooperation between the NCAA and NIHOTOUR.
