NCC debunks hike in telecom tariff plans

The Nigerian Communications Commission has rejected reports claiming that it has approved an increase in telecom tariff plans.

NCC via its verified X (formally Twitter) handle on Saturday, clarified that no such approval has been granted.

Earlier on Saturday, a report circulated that the NCC has approved tariff increases for MTN, Airtel, Glo, and other telecom companies.

The post reads, “The NCC has neither approved any new Telecom Tariff Plans nor hike as reported online. The public is advised to please disregard.

“NCC issued a directive for all operators to simplify their current tariff plans in a transparent & fair manner for consumers.”

However, NCC directed telecommunications operators to immediately restore all phone lines blocked over NIN issues as reported by Dailyeconomy on Monday, July 29, 2024.
