The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding broadband and mobile connectivity across Nigeria’s underserved and unserved communities.

This pledge was articulated by the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NCC), Dr Aminu Maida, in a statement released on Friday following a strategic discussion with Uche Amaonwu, Nigeria’s Country Director of the Gates Foundation.

“At the @NgComCommission, we remain committed to extending connectivity to Nigeria’s underserved and unserved communities,” the NCC chairman said.

He emphasised that their meeting focused on reviewing ongoing initiatives aimed at bridging the accessibility and affordability gaps in both broadband and mobile services.

Highlighting the importance of collaboration, the chairman added, “We recognise the central role of partnerships and collaboration. This is why we are working with the Gates Foundation to deliver critical projects that strengthen our regulatory oversight, enhance our capacity to address consumer complaints, and protect our digital community.”

The NCC’s partnership with the Gates Foundation is targeted at accelerating Nigeria’s digital inclusion goals, ensuring that more Nigerians gain access to reliable, affordable internet services, thereby fostering socio-economic development.
