The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has conferred the prestigious Fellowship of the Council on Mr. Peter Tai. Adediji, marking his induction into the highly respected Society of Fellows.

The announcement was made during the Council’s Fellowship Day, a colorful ceremony that brought together distinguished leaders, professionals, and stakeholders in the insurance industry. The event underscored the Council’s commitment to honoring individuals whose professionalism, integrity, and leadership qualities stand out in the practice of insurance broking.

In his keynote address, the President of NCRIB, Prince Babatunde Adeleke Oguntade, described the Fellowship cadre as the highest echelon within the Council, noting that the admission process was rigorous and highly competitive. He congratulated Mr. Adediji on his elevation, stressing that the honor comes with great responsibilities.

Oguntade enjoined Mr. Adediji and other newly admitted Fellows to uphold the Council’s image, contribute meaningfully to its growth, and demonstrate exemplary professionalism in their dealings. He further reminded them of the importance of active participation in Council programs and events.

Speaking on the state of the industry, the NCRIB President highlighted contemporary issues shaping the future of insurance broking in Nigeria, particularly the implementation of the NIIRA 2025 legislation. According to him, the Act has opened up new opportunities for insurance penetration, enhanced customer confidence, and created avenues for deeper industry growth.

He also emphasized the need for strict adherence to regulatory requirements, including data protection laws, compliance with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), as well as evolving guidelines from NAICOM and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). These, he said, are critical for Nigeria’s effort to exit the global financial gray list and to ensure a stronger, more compliant insurance sector.

Chairman of the Board of Fellows, Barr. (Mrs.) Laide Osijo, further explained the prestige attached to the Fellowship cadre. She noted that members of this class are seasoned, versatile professionals whose careers have significantly advanced insurance broking in Nigeria. She described the Fellowship as both an honor and a call to higher service.

“The Fellowship is not only prestigious but also demanding,” she stated. “It requires members like Mr. Peter T. Adediji to rise above the ordinary in their professional conduct, uphold the highest ethical standards, and provide greater leadership within and beyond the Council.”

Among the dignitaries that were inducted include, Mrs Yetunde Ilori, the current president of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), her immediate past president, Mr. Edwin Igbiti and 48 others into the prestigious Society of Fellows of the Council.
