NEDC inspects e-buses in China ahead of shipment to Nigeria

A delegation from the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has carried out a pre-shipment inspection of electric buses at Anhui Ankai Automobile Co. Ltd, a leading bus manufacturing facility in Hefei City, Anhui Province, China.

According to a statement by the president spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the visit follows Bola Tinubu’s earlier approval for the procurement of electric vehicles as part of the Federal Government’s drive to promote clean energy, sustainable transportation, and improved mobility in the North East.

Leading the delegation were Minister of State for Steel Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu; Minister of State for Regional Development, Mohammed G. Alkali; and Chairman of the House Committee on NEDC, Usman Zannah.

The statement reads, “A delegation of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) conducted pre-shipment visitation today at Anhui Ankai Automobile Co. Ltd, a leading bus manufacturing facility in Hefei City, Anhui Province, China.

“This visit follows the earlier approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu(GCFR) for the procurement of electric vehicles as part of the Federal Government’s drive to promote clean energy, sustainable transportation, and improved mobility in the North East region.

“Leading the delegation were His Excellency, Uba Maigari Ahmadu #Maigari Ahmadu Minister Of State Steel, Minister of State for Regional Development, MD/CEO Mohammed G Alkali @~Mohammed Alkali and Honourable Usman Zannah, Chairman, House Committee on NEDC.

“The team was on-site to inspect the procured NEDC e-buses and accessories in preparation for shipment to Nigeria.

“Other members of the delegation included: ED operations Abdulsalam Yahaya Ahmed, Chief Mutiu Lawal, Benjamin Westley, Commission SecretaryEngr. Abubakar Ali, Ag.GM RR Ali Umar, Head, Audit

“The delegation expressed satisfaction with the quality, technology, and readiness of the buses and commended Anhui Ankai Automobile Co., Ltd. for meeting international standards in manufacturing and assembly.

“This procurement marks a significant step in the NEDC’s commitment to deploying modern, eco-friendly transportation solutions that will enhance connectivity, reduce emissions, and support economic growth across the North East.”
