The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has carried out an assessment of flood and rainstorm damage in Maru and Bungudu Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, revealing widespread destruction of houses and farmlands.
The exercise was led by the Head of Operations of NEMA’s Sokoto Office, Aliyu Shehu Kafindangi, alongside a team of officers who visited accessible locations to determine the scale of damage and identify the immediate needs of affected communities.
NEMA noted that some areas remain inaccessible due to security challenges, limiting the scope of physical verification.
However, the Agency said it is working with trusted local networks and partners to gather accurate information that will guide possible interventions.
It further assured that the findings from the assessment will inform appropriate response measures to support affected households and help restore normalcy in the communities.
