NEMA distributes aid to windstorm victims in Adamawa

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola Operations Office, has distributed humanitarian relief materials to families impacted by a recent windstorm in the Kwambula and Mutuku communities of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The intervention, approved by the Director-General of NEMA, was significantly facilitated by the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Wesley Bathiya. His proactive engagement and collaboration with key stakeholders were crucial in ensuring the swift and effective delivery of support to the affected residents.

The distributed relief items included a variety of essential food supplies such as bags of rice and maize, cartons of spaghetti, tomato paste, and seasoning.

A statement shared on NEMA’s X (formerly Twitter), handle, revealed that these provisions are intended to help alleviate the immediate hardships faced by the victims and aid their recovery process.

The statement reads, “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola Operations Office, has successfully carried out the distribution of humanitarian relief materials to households affected by a recent windstorm in Kwambula and Mutuku communities, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

“This intervention was approved by the Director General of NEMA, following the facilitation efforts of the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Wesley Bathiya. His timely response and collaboration with relevant stakeholders were instrumental in ensuring a swift and effective delivery of support to the affected communities.

“The distributed relief items comprised assorted food supplies, including bags of rice and maize, cartons of spaghetti, tomato paste, and seasoning. These items are aimed at alleviating the hardship experienced by the victims and supporting their recovery process.

“Representing the Head of NEMA Yola Operations Office during the distribution exercise, Mr. Yusuf Ibbi Attah (AC SARO), reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to providing timely and efficient emergency response. He also urged the community to embrace disaster risk reduction measures to mitigate future occurrences.

“Beneficiaries of the relief items expressed heartfelt gratitude to NEMA and the Adamawa State Government, describing the intervention as both timely and life-saving.”
