The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has stepped in to aid victims of last year’s fire and windstorm disasters in Niger State’s Chanchaga Federal Constituency.

This was made known in a statement released on Tuesday by NEMA.

The agency’s Minna Operations Office rolled out relief materials on March 14 at the PDP Secretariat in Minna, partnering with local lawmaker Abubakar Abdul Buba.Dr. Zainab A. Ndanusa, Head of NEMA’s Disaster Risk Reduction Unit, represented Operations Head Mr. Hussaini Isah at the event.

She expressed sympathy to those affected, stating the items came “from the Federal Government through NEMA to cushion the impact of the disasters.”

She added, urging beneficiaries to “make judicious use of the items.

“Lawmaker Buba thanked NEMA’s Director-General Zubaida Umar for the support, assuring, “the items would reach the intended beneficiaries.”

Niger State PDP Chairman Aliyu Halidu also praised the effort, commending NEMA and calling for “continued collaboration between the agency and relevant stakeholders.

“Relief packs featured essentials like 25kg bags of rice and maize, cartons of spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, and iodized salt.”

The distribution unfolded under the watch of stakeholders, including Niger State Emergency Management Agency reps, DSS, police, vigilantes, community leaders, and victims themselves.
