The National Emergency Management Agency has distributed relief materials to victims of recent communal clashes in Jahun and Miga Local Government Areas of Jigawa south-west senatorial district.
The distribution exercise, according to a statement by NEMA on Sunday, was carried out by the NEMA Kano Operations Office as part of the agency’s intervention to support communities affected by the violence.
Speaking on behalf of the Director General of NEMA, the Head of the Kano Operations Office, Nuradeen Abdullahi, expressed concern over the impact of the clashes on residents, noting that the relief materials were not meant as compensation but as a demonstration of the federal government’s solidarity with those affected.
The statement partly reads, “On April 19, 2025, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provided relief materials to communities in Jahun and Miga Local Government Areas of Jigawa South-West Senatorial District, affected by recent communal clashes.
“The distribution was carried out by the NEMA Kano Operations Office as part of efforts to support affected individuals. Beneficiaries were urged to make good use of the items provided.”
However, Senator Mustapha Khabeeb commended NEMA for the timely and compassionate response, expressing his gratitude for the agency’s intervention.
“Key stakeholders present at the event included representatives from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), among others,” the statement added.
