NEMA, LASEMA commence distribution of relief items to flood victims in Lagos

The National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and other stakeholders has begun the immediate distribution of relief items to flood-affected residents in seven communities in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The distribution according to a statement by NEMA on Wednesday, started on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Oke-Ishagun and continued in other communities.
The exercise was described as a response to severe flooding that occurred in the State earlier in the year and caused widespread damage and displacement.
The statement reads, “Following a need assessment, NEMA approved food and non-food relief items for affected individuals.
“During the distribution, representatives from NEMA and LASEMA emphasised the importance of environmental care and proper waste management, urging residents to heed flood warnings, especially those living near canals and flood plains.
“Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, and the event received media coverage.”
