NEMA receives 111 vulnerable Nigerians from Niger

The Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA has received 111 Nigerian returnees from the Niger Republic at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Cargo Terminal, Lagos State.
In a release by NEMA on Thursday, the returnees comprised 82 male adults,15 female adults, 5 male children, 6 female children and 3 infants.
The statement reads, “In continuation of the voluntary evacuation of Nigerian returnees from Niger Republic by IOM in conjunction with the Federal Government of Nigeria, the NEMA Lagos Territorial Office LTO along with other stakeholders on 8 October 2024 received a total of 111 Nigerian returnees from Niger Republic. They arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Cargo Terminal at about 14.00 hours aboard Air Mali Boeing TZ-SMK with registration no. 500.
“The returnees comprised 82 male adults, 15 female adults, 5 male children, 6 female children and 3 infants. They were offered necessary assistance by IOM with the support of NEMA, NCFRM, FAAN, DSS, NAPTIP, NPF and Port Health.
“Profiling was done by the Nigeria Immigration Services before they were transported to temporary accommodation where the returnees are expected to be given skilled training as part of the reintegration assistant being offered by IOM.”
