NEMA rolls out relief to flood banditry victims in Niger

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has stepped in to aid communities battered by floods and banditry in Niger State’s Kontagora, Mariga, Mashegu, and Wushishi Federal Constituency.
Through its Minna Operations Office, NEMA distributed relief materials on February 21, 2026, targeting affected households.
The effort accord to a statement obtained from NEMA on Monday aimed “to cushion the hardship of affected households and supporting early recovery efforts.”
Supervised by Head of Operations Hussaini Isah, the distribution unfolded peacefully in Kontagora with collaboration from the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), local government reps, and aides to Abdullahi Idris Garba (Mai Sola).
Security from the DSS, NSCDC, and police ensured smooth operations.
Beneficiaries voiced gratitude to NEMA’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar.
“Representatives of the benefiting communities expressed appreciation for the timely intervention,” the statement noted.
NEMA reaffirmed its dedication, “The exercise was conducted peacefully and transparently, reaffirming NEMA’s commitment to providing humanitarian support to vulnerable populations during emergencies.”
