NEMA, SEMA conduct joint assessment after bandits’ attack on Woro, Nuku communities

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), alongside the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (KWASEMA), have carried out a joint on-the-spot assessment on Monday following a devastating bandits’ attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The exercise according to a statement obtained from NEMA on Monday aimed to gauge the damage and pinpoint urgent humanitarian needs for affected residents.
NEMA had previously supplied relief items to bolster the state government’s response, handed over to KWASEMA Executive Secretary, Moshood Mogaji.
Led by NEMA’s Minna Operations Head, Mr. Hussaini Isah, and Mogaji, the team first visited Kaiama Local Government Secretariat, where Secretary Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna welcomed them.
They then commiserated with the Emir of Kaiama, Muazu Omar, via Wazirin Kaiama, Alhaji Adamu Gene, gathering initial details on the attack’s toll.
Community engagement followed, with Woro’s traditional leader, Umar Bio Salihu, sharing insights, “He provided insights into the impact of the attack on residents and the urgent needs of affected households.”
The assessment involved KWASEMA, local leaders, officials, and security agencies for a thorough review.
