The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has issued a strong warning about fraudulent social media accounts falsely representing the agency and its Director General.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, NEMA said, “NEMA Disclaims Fake Social Media Accounts Impersonating the Agency and Its Director General.”
The agency highlighted that “unscrupulous elements” have created these fake accounts with “the intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.”
NEMA strongly advised, “The general public is therefore strongly advised to disregard these fake accounts and remain vigilant against such fraudulent antics designed to deceive and exploit innocent Nigerians.”
The statement reminded the public that “NEMA and its Director General maintain verified social media accounts, which remain the only authentic platforms for credible updates and information.”
Reaffirming its commitment, NEMA emphasised, “NEMA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and credible communication, urging citizens to always rely on its official communication platforms for genuine information.”
