Netanyahu delivered a defiant speech at the United Nations General Assembly, vowing to “continue fighting against Hamas and its allies” despite mounting international calls to end the conflict and occupation in the West Bank.

His remarks came as dozens of officials and diplomats staged a walkout, leaving significant portions of the New York conference hall noticeably empty.

Addressing the assembly, Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s stance, stating, “We will not rest until the threat posed by Hamas is eliminated,” underscoring his determination to press on with military operations.

However, his hardline position was met with visible protest, as many delegates expressed their opposition by exiting the chamber during his speech.

The walkout highlighted the deep divisions among the international community regarding the ongoing violence and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Netanyahu faces increasing global pressure to engage in diplomatic efforts to halt the hostilities and address the occupation that has stirred decades of unrest.

Despite the criticism, Netanyahu maintained, “Our priority is the security of our people, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure it,” signaling that Israel’s government intends to remain steadfast in its current course of action.

This episode at the UN General Assembly starkly illustrated the polarization surrounding the conflict and the challenges ahead for peace negotiations.
