The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed on Saturday that its President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, paid a visit to Super Eagles defender Ola Aina in London to personally wish him a speedy recovery as he continues his rehabilitation from a significant hamstring injury.
Ola Aina has been sidelined since September following a hamstring injury suffered during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa, an injury severe enough to warrant surgery.
The NFF statement highlighted the importance of the visit, underscoring the federation’s support for the player during his recovery journey.
Aina’s absence has been a notable blow for both the Super Eagles and his club Nottingham Forest.
Before his injury, the 29-year-old defender had been a key figure for Nigeria, contributing over 48 appearances since his 2017 debut.
However, recent reports have brought encouraging news.
The dedicated defender has been seen returning to light, grass-based training in Nottingham, edging closer to full fitness after undergoing surgery.
Medical sources from Nottingham Forest indicate that Aina is making a positive recovery and could be ready for full team training in the coming weeks, potentially returning to action early next year.
Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche recently commented on Aina’s progress, stating, “Ola Aina is very similar. He is on the grass but not with us yet, he is with the medical and sport science staff.”
The NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau’s visit symbolizes the strong backing from the federation, recognizing the importance of Aina’s fitness for Nigeria’s future campaigns.
The NFF statement read, “NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau paid a visit to Super Eagles defender Ola Aina in London, wishing him a speedy recovery as he continues his rehabilitation.”
