The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PI-CNG) has signed a pivotal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China’s YJT Environment Technology Ltd (You Jie Te) during a strategic working visit led by Executive Chairman/CEO Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed.
The agreement focuses on localising the production of integrated CNG refuelling units and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Nigeria.
This aligns directly with the Federal Government’s clean energy push and Renewed Hope Agenda, as outlined in the official Presidency statement released Saturday.
The statement says, “PI-CNG Leads Strategic Working Visit to China, Signs MoU to Localise CNG and EV Infrastructure Manufacturing in Nigeria.”
The delegation’s trip also secured commitments from a specialist CNG conversion-kit manufacturer poised to set up assembly lines locally.
“An initiative expected to create jobs, facilitate technology and skills transfer, reduce dependence on imported infrastructure, and accelerate the adoption of cleaner, more affordable mobility solutions nationwide,” it added.
This partnership according to the statement promises to boost job creation, transfer vital technology and skills to Nigerian workers, and cut reliance on costly imports, paving the way for widespread adoption of affordable, eco-friendly transport options across the country.
