In a bold move to fortify the nation’s skies, the Federal Government has announced sweeping enhancements to aviation and airspace security, targeting radar expansions and cutting-edge counter-drone measures.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo highlighted the ambitious scope, stating the initiative “will extend radar coverage beyond the current 5,000-foot limit and introduce counter-UAV systems, including jammers, to protect airports and Nigerian Air Force bases nationwide.”

Presidency in a statement on Wednesday emphasised the partnership-driven approach, “Nigeria Moves to Strengthen Aviation and Airspace Security.”

It detailed ongoing discussions with Qatar’s Barzan Holdings to integrate “world-class command, control, and surveillance systems into Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force.”
