The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a major step toward modernising its military administration on Wednesday, announcing the deployment of Galaxy Backbone Limited’s Government Cloud (1GovCloud) solution at the Ministry of Defence.
In an official statement released by the Presidency on Wednesday, the initiative aims to fully digitise core administrative and operational processes.
“The Ministry of Defence is set to transition to a digital platform powered by Galaxy Backbone Limited, deploying the Government Cloud (1GovCloud) solution to digitise core administrative and operational processes,” the statement read.
This move promises to streamline workflows, enhance secure communications, improve data management, and promote interoperability across departments.
By reducing reliance on paper-based systems, it will accelerate decision-making, strengthen transparency and accountability, and deliver real-time access to critical information.
The rollout aligns closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Plans include pilot integrations, cross-agency training, and a coordinated implementation roadmap to ensure a seamless transition throughout the Ministry.
“The platform will streamline workflows, enhance secure communications, improve data management, and promote interoperability across departments,” the Presidency highlighted, underscoring the project’s potential to transform defence operations.
