Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to bolstering ties with Canada to advance mining sector reforms, draw foreign direct investment (FDI), formalise artisanal mining operations, and facilitate technology transfers.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development on Sunday, Alake emphasised the strategic partnership’s potential to transform Nigeria’s mining landscape.
“To ensure these commitments translate into tangible results, both countries will establish a joint working group to advance priority actions and fast-track implementation,” the statement read.
The initiative comes amid Nigeria’s push to diversify its economy beyond oil, with solid minerals identified as a key growth area.
Officials expect the working group to focus on regulatory improvements, investment incentives, and capacity-building for local miners.
