Nigeria congratulates Democratic Republic of Congo on independence anniversary, reaffirms strong bilateral ties

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has extended warm congratulations to Her Excellency Thérese Kayikwamba Wagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophonie of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on the occasion of the DRC’s Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued on Monday, by Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Tuggar described the milestone as a powerful symbol of “the resilience, courage, and determination of the Congolese people in their pursuit of sovereignty, peace and prosperity.”

The statement also acknowledged the DRC’s “rich cultural heritage, vast natural resources and strategic role in advancing regional stability and economic integration in Central Africa.”

Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to deepening bilateral relations with the DRC, stressing cooperation in “trade, security, and sustainable development.”

The statement underscored Nigeria’s role as a “steadfast partner in supporting the DRC’s efforts towards lasting peace, democratic governance, and socio-economic progress.”

Highlighting the importance of regional solidarity, Nigeria called for “continued regional and international collaboration to address challenges facing the DRC, including security and humanitarian concerns,” while commending the Congolese government’s efforts in “fostering national unity and development.”

The Government and people of Nigeria conveyed their best wishes for a “peaceful and prosperous Independence Anniversary celebration” to the Government and people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
