Nigeria strengthens ties with Palestine as Tuggar hosts Ambassador in Abuja

Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, met with the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Nigeria, Muhannad Halmouri, on Wednesday, during a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The engagement according to a statement on Wednesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscores ongoing efforts to bolster bilateral relations.
The statement highlighted that “The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, on 4 February 2026 received the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Nigeria, His Excellency Muhannad Halmouri, who is on a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.”
Discussions covered consular matters, humanitarian concerns, and regional issues of mutual interest.
The statement noted, “The meeting is part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the State of Palestine, while also providing an opportunity to review consular, humanitarian, and regional issues of mutual concern.”
