The Nigerian Army has announced educational scholarships for the children of its deceased personnel who died in active service.

The scholarships that will cover the 2023/2024 academic session and include screening and verification of eligible children, were disclosed in a memo posted on the Nigerian Army verified X (formally Twitter) handle on Monday.

According to the memo, the programme aims to support the families of fallen soldiers by funding the education of their children.

The memo reads, “The Nigerian Army has commenced payment of Nigerian Army Educational Sponsorship for 2023/2024

Academic Session to verified children of deceased Nigerian Army personnel who died in active service.

“The payment is being done in batches. If any verified beneficiary did not receive due funds by 15 August 2024, please contact Headquarters Nigerian Army Department of Army Administration on 08169355766 or visit the Department.”

Dailyeconomy on July 8, 2024, reported that Nigerian Army of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army successfully neutralised a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and destroyed terrorist bases in Ikiyayo Forest, Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State.
