Nigeria’s Company Income Tax hits N2.96tn in Q3 2025, up 6.55% quarterly — NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that Company Income Tax (CIT) collections surged to ₦2.96 trillion in the third quarter of 2025, marking a 6.55% increase from ₦2.78 trillion in Q2 2025.
In a report released on Wednesday, the NBS stated, “Company Income Tax (CIT) for Q3 2025 stood at ₦2.96 trillion, showing an increase of 6.55% on a quarter-on-quarter basis from ₦2.78 trillion in Q2 2025. The domestic CIT received was ₦1.21 trillion, while Foreign CIT Payment was ₦1.75 trillion in Q3 2025.”
The figures highlight foreign companies’ dominant role, contributing ₦1.75 trillion compared to ₦1.21 trillion from domestic sources.
Year-over-year, CIT jumped 67.19% from an estimated ₦1.77 trillion in Q3 2024, reflecting stronger corporate earnings and better tax compliance amid ongoing economic recovery.
Sector breakdowns show heavy reliance on key industries: financial services led with ₦207 billion, followed by manufacturing at ₦271 billion and mining at ₦245 billion.
