The Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) in Nigeria is transforming the way vehicle ownership is managed, offering a streamlined process for changing ownership.
The Nigerian Police Force in an enlightenment post on X (formally Twitter) on Wednesday, made it clear that the innovation ensures that buyers of used cars can verify the vehicle’s history and avoid potential legal issues by simply requesting the seller to initiate a Change of Ownership through their e-CMR profile.
The NPF notes that “The e-CMR system provides peace of mind for new vehicle owners by ensuring that the car is not stolen and that ownership is transferred smoothly.
“This is a significant step towards making vehicle ownership safer and more transparent in Nigeria.”
The force confirmed that the change of ownership process is now quick and straightforward, which is one more way the e-CMR is making vehicle ownership safer and more transparent.
