Nike Popoola, Mahamadi Sebogo join panel of judges for Pan-African (Re)Insurance Journalism Awards
Continental Reinsurance Plc has announced its panel of judges for the milestone 10th edition of the Pan-African (Re)Insurance Journalism Awards.
This year’s panel includes two former category winners who, having secured the award twice, are now ineligible to participate and join the esteemed judging panel.
They are Editor-in-Chief, Daily Economy, Nike Popoola from Nigeria and Business Journalist, Mahamadi Sebogo, from Burkina Faso.
The 2025 judging panel includes:
- Michael Wilson, Business & Finance Journalist (Chair)
- Nadia Mensah-Acogny, Journalist, Forbes Afrique
- Kenneth Igbomor, Market News Editor (West Africa), CNBC Africa
- Shiamdass Appannah, Lloyd’s General Representative in Mauritius
- Chakib Abouzaid, Secretary-General, GAIF
- Samia Heeda, Former Managing Director, Willis Towers Watson Re (Egypt)
- Sr. Prof. Agnes Lucy Lando, Professor of Communication and Media Studies, Daystar University
- Gareth Stokes, Founder, Stokes Media Group
- Liz Booth, Managing Editor, Africa Ahead
- Nike Popoola, Editor-in-Chief, Daily Economy (New)
- Mahamadi Sebogo, Business Journalist (New)
Entries for the awards, accepted in English, French, or Arabic, must be submitted latest by Monday, 31 January 2025.
The distinguished panel brings together a wealth of expertise spanning journalism and the (re)insurance industry, offering valuable insights from within and beyond the sector.

The shortlist of nominees will be revealed in March 2025, with the awards ceremony scheduled for April 2025.
