Real Madrid defender, Antonio Rüdiger has hit back at critics questioning his on-pitch temperament, insisting his aggressive approach never puts his team at risk of him being sent off.
In a recent interview, the German international emphasised his discipline, stating, “I play aggressively, but I’m definitely not a risk (to get sent off) for my team. I know exactly what minute it is and what’s at stake.”
Rüdiger highlighted his impeccable record, adding, “Nine years without a red card isn’t a coincidence. Even my number of yellow cards is significantly lower than most people would probably guess.”.
The 32-year-old, known for his no-nonsense defending, revealed his booking stats are modest: “Over the last few years, I’ve only averaged around five yellow cards per season in the league.”
Rüdiger’s comments come amid ongoing debates about his physicality in La Liga clashes, but his stats back up the claims—bolstering his reputation as a tough yet controlled center-back for both club and country.
