The Nigeria Immigration Service has issued an apology for recent interruptions in its online payment system for Passport Service windows.
The apology was tendered in a circular on Friday by the NIS.
The delays affected users attempting to access services, prompting the NIS to acknowledge the inconvenience and assure the public that measures are being implemented to resolve the issues promptly.
However, the reason for the hitches was not disclosed in the circular.
The circular reads, “We apologise for the downtime being experienced with online applications on our Passport Service windows.
“The Service is assuring the public that within the shortest possible time, seamless service will be restored.
“All inconveniences this may have caused are highly regretted. Please bear with us.”
Dailyeconomy had reported earlier that the NIS through its spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, announced on Wednesday that the Federal Government has approved an upward review of the fees for the Passport effective from September 1, 2024, stating that a 32-page Passport booklet with 5-year validity which was formerly charged at N35,000 will now be N50,000 and the 64-page Passport booklet with 10-year validity which was N70,000 will be N100,000.
