The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has concluded a comprehensive review of disciplinary cases involving Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officers, resulting in significant actions to uphold integrity and discipline within the Service.

Involving thirty-one cases reviewed since the Board Disciplinary and General-purpose Committee (BDGPC) meeting on July 11, 2025, the Board has approved a range of disciplinary measures.

A statement shared on Friday and signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, eight officers were dismissed for serious misconduct and violation of regulations, while five others were compulsorily retired due to misconduct.

Additionally, eight officers were demoted one rank, and five received written warnings.

The Board rejected dismissal appeals from two officers due to lack of merit but reinstated one officer after a successful appeal and exonerated two others from charges.

Notably, two junior personnel—Aliyu Usman and Chukwu Nancy Ngozi—were dismissed for criminal conspiracy related to theft, illegal possession of firearms, and confirmed involvement in kidnapping following internal disciplinary proceedings completed in April and September 2025.

Under the leadership of CDCFIB Chairman and Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and NIS Comptroller-General KN Nandap, the Service reaffirms its “commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards across all cadres” and assures the public that disciplinary measures “will be carried out without fear or favour and in strict compliance with extant rules and regulations.”

The Nigeria Immigration Service continues to emphasise transparency and accountability to preserve public trust and service excellence.
