The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has issued an urgent update on a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), confirming that emergency teams are working tirelessly to contain the blaze.
In a statement released on Monday, FAAN detailed the ongoing response: “Emergency response operations are ongoing as our firefighting teams continue efforts to fully contain and curtail the fire, while the orderly evacuation of passengers and airport personnel is in progress.”
To bolster the efforts, FAAN has activated mutual aid arrangements, calling in reinforcements from key partners including the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
The authority emphasised public safety in the statement, “We wish to reassure the public that no loss of life has been recorded at this time, and all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property.”
FAAN promised transparency, adding, “Further verified updates will be communicated as the situation develops.”
