The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has officially kicked off its Nationwide Enlightenment Campaign in Yobe State with a press conference held on Friday in Damaturu.

The campaign, flagged off by NOA’s Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu—represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Strategy, Nuru Yusuf Kobi—focuses on five vital thematic areas aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s unity and progress:
– Government Policies, Programmes and Activities – raising awareness about government initiatives and the benefits available to citizens.
– Flood Mitigation and Disaster Preparedness – empowering citizens with knowledge on early warnings and safety measures.
– National Security Awareness – promoting vigilance, intelligence sharing, and community cooperation.
– National Values Re-Orientation (Students & Youth) – instilling patriotism, civic responsibility, and discipline among young Nigerians.
– The Nigerian Identity Project and National Symbols – enhancing national pride and respect for unifying symbols.

At the event, NOA highlighted the indispensable role of the media and civil society in shaping public opinion, building trust between the government and citizens, and promoting unity across Nigeria’s diverse communities.

“The Yobe State launch marks the beginning of a grassroots drive that will extend to all 17 LGAs in Yobe State through school visits, town hall meetings, roadshows, advocacy to traditional and religious leaders, and community-based sensitization,” the statement obtained from NOA said.

The Agency reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that every Nigerian is included in the nation-building process, urging citizens to “take ownership of the campaign for peace, unity, and progress.”
