The North-East caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party has endorsed the Acting National Chairman of the party, Umar Damagum.
This was revealed in a statement on Thursday by the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri.
Fintiri, who spoke on behalf of the party chapters in Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Borno, and Yobe States, said the zone was impressed with Damagum’s leadership since he assumed office.
The governor also emphasised the restraining order which had been given by a Federal High Court in Abuja, halting the removal of Damagum as the party chairman, noting that that the judgment of the court is in the interest of the party members and the national democratic process.
The governor wrote on his social media handle, “Solidly in support of Amb. Umar Damagum as National Chairman of PDP.
“His leadership has restored public confidence, and we are confident he will steer the party to greater heights.
“Let’s respect the court ruling and uphold our democracy.”
Recall that the Federal High Court in Abuja had barred the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee, PDP, INEC, and affiliates from replacing, nominating or appointing any Chairman other than Damagum, following a restraining order by the Court.
