Obasa claims a speaker can’t be impeached

Former Lagos State, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has finally broken silent following his removal from office.
Obasa, who spoke during a welcome rally at his residence in Joel Ogunnaike GRA, Ikeja on Saturday, maintained that he was not afraid of being impeached but reiterated that due process must be followed.
In a video clip seen online, Obasa stated that the speaker of the House cannot be impeached.
He could be heard claiming, “You can only remove the speaker, you cannot impeach him. And if you’re going to remove you must ensure you follow the rules and regulations.
“I am not afraid to be removed. what else am I looking for?. If you want to remove me, do it constitutionally. Follow the due process.”
Dailyeconomy had early reported that Mojisola Meranda has become the first elected female Lagos Speaker, following the impeachment of Obasa.
