Former presidential aspirant and governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has spoken up over the security challenges facing Zamfara state and other parts of the country.
Obi in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), emphasised the need to restructure Nigeria’s security framework to make it more responsive, decentralised, and effective.
He emphasised that governors should be given the necessary support and authority to safeguard lives and property within their states.
“The safety and security of our citizens must become our highest priority,” Obi said, while urging the federal government to provide state governors with the resources and backing required to secure their territories.
He maintained that improving coordination between federal and state authorities would help address systemic weaknesses in the current security architecture and ensure better protection for Nigerians.
